Venice is a strange and beautiful city in the north of Italy. It is not one island

but a hundred and seventeen islands . They are near one another . There are more than

four hundred old stone bridges joining the islands of Venice.

There are no traffic problems or pollution in the city; there are no motor cars, no

horses, no buses . This is simply because Venice has no streets. Every one must go by

boat from place to another . The boats sail on one hundred and fifty canals or water way.

The Italians are the indigenous people of Venice. The men of Venice are specialized
